Nixa City Councilman Scott Perryman has been appointed to serve a 1-year term on the American Public Power Association’s Policy Makers Council (PMC).

Perryman has served as a Nixa city councilman since April 2018, and has engaged actively in advocacy for public utilities at the local and state level. His work on the PMC will include visits with elected representatives and congressional staff on issues critical to public power.

“Scott’s support has been valuable and effective as we’ve visited with Missouri lawmakers,” said MPUA Vice-President Ewell Lawson. “We know he’ll be the same kind of asset to APPA on the team advising our nation’s policymakers.” Perryman was nominated for the council by Nixa’s municipal utility and supported by MPUA.

Made up of locally elected and appointed officials from public power communities across the country, the Policy Makers Council meets at least twice a year in Washington, D.C. Its mission is to assist APPA in moving legislation forward that is important to public power electric utilities nationwide. Council members participate in meetings with elected representatives and congressional staff to support the APPA’s national legislative agenda.
