Apprentices graduate to Journeyman Lineman Status

As the New Year and the 2020s dawned, 27 Missouri apprentices and 15 Arkansas apprentices became certified as Journeyman Linemen by completing the academic requirements of the four-year MPUA Apprentice Lineman Training Program. The graduates will receive a certificate of completion from MPUA and the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.

Since the inception of the Apprentice Lineman Training Program in 1989, there have been 725 apprentices graduate to Journeyman Lineman status. The 2019 class had a total of 114 apprentices enrolled from 50 member cities throughout the state of Missouri; 50 apprentices from 9 member cities in the state of Arkansas; and 1 apprentice from the state of Mississippi. To date there are 161 students (108-MO, 52-AR, 1-MS) registered for the 2020 Apprentice Program.

In 2019, apprentices in the program completed about 330,000 hours of training, including classroom instruction, hands-on training and applied on-the-job training.

In addition, Travis Andreae, Christopher Morgenstern, and John Taber from Scobee Powerline Construction completed the one year Advanced Journeyman Lineman Program.
