One of the advantages of the MPUA network is the ability to collaborate and help each other find solutions in a dynamic industry. MPUA Resource Services Corporation (MPUA-RSC) was created separately just for that purpose and recently, MPUA-RSC responded to the call for assistance.

In November, the City of Independence issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking utility consulting services ranging from the recruitment of interim operations management to providing operational assessment services.  MPUA-RSC answered the call with an RFQ response identifying an internal and partner-affiliated team of qualified professionals and highlighting its non-profit status. News reports indicate that six firms, all for-profit except MPUA-RSC, have responded to the RFQ.

MPUA Resource Services Corporation was formed as 501(c)3 non-profit to provide services to municipal utilities. MPUA-RSC leverages the staff expertise of the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission and other partners to assist municipal electric, wastewater, natural gas, water, and broadband utilities in Missouri and surrounding areas. Through this entity, municipalities can collaborate across utility sectors to develop broader services and new delivery systems. Expertise required for operations, efficiency, and compliance is more demanding as technology, regulation, and markets grow more complex.
